WORLD HEMOPHILIA DAY
Hemophilia is a inherited bleeding disorder due to deficiency of clotting factor deficiency,usually of factor VIII and rarely facor IX(Hemophilia B)
It is infherited through X chromosomes,so it manifests in males usually and females are only carriers except in rare situations
It is treated by rest,immobilisation and supportive measures and replacement of clotting factors,depending on severity and need
Usual tests for diagnosis are a Bleeding time,clotting time,Partial thromboplastin time and mixing studies
Confirmation by assay of clotting factors
In Dane we can do all the tests except factor assays under supervision by pathologists
